He was born on a little holding
On the Adelaide Plains down Lower Light way
He loved to run the paddocks round
A free spirit as a family favourite they'd say
Our two girls were smitten by his beauty seen
And they loved to see him run
As fast as the wind you'd say
For those golden days were made for fun
Then one day the Army came
Looking for the best mounts to be found
For the war had come to them
And they knew their duty bound
And so Bill joined up at the call
For remounts for Chavel's Desert Campaign
So Bill went to war a remount made
To bullets blood and ANZAC fame
So his family are left at home
To ponder on Bill and what had occurred
And the girls are proud of him
With the ANZAC Desert Column not blurred.
