Birds Are Free Poem by Colette Dright

Birds Are Free

Birds are free
Free to laugh, free to cry
Free to leave with no good-byes
Free to spread their wings so high
Free to soar in the sky
Free to come, free to go
Free to fly to Mexico
Free to sing, for that's their thing
Free to burp, free to chirp

Free to go to public parks
Free to hide when it gets dark
Free to poop on your car
Free to fly near or far
Free to sit in a tree
A bird is free as it can be
Do they worry, do they work?
Can they dance, can they twerk?
Free to rest on the roof top
Free to eat the food you drop
Free to fly all together
Free to fly in any weather

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was sitting on the porch realizing how truly grateful I am just to be able to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. With all that is going on in the world, we sometimes tend to miss moments like this. So, enjoying the breeze, gazing at the sky and listening to the birds chirp inspired me to write this.
