Bittersweet Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bittersweet

Bittersweet

The Winner Takes It All
I do not want to talk…

You know what I say, so
Look at Shakespeare's:
"Romeo, Juliet."

Many know about the
"Shirin's love with Farhad."

As some know:
Of "Leili and Majnoon."

Love is too sweet when
It is bitter, poison.

The lovers never get
Neither want nor intent!

You are far away while
My life is right here
And my heart over there,
Very far, far away!

You want me with you and
I want life with you but
Neither can; so, our lives
Are nothing but bitter…

We can feel the honey
Of the love in the books
Referred to, aforesaid…

Now picture Juliet and Shirin
As well as the Leili
And Majnoon to Frahad
With the young Romeo…

Let the love go and die
While bitter and sweet,
Let us live as they did!
