Blessed by nature geographically,
the Seat of State Wu during the Warring States Period ancient and old
has been the thriving Qiantang city
which owns bridges brilliant, willows mist-fold,
curtains and drapes windproof, and emerald screens which can be fold and unfold,
Houses high, hovels low, huge autumnal tides with snow white trundling sprays
and lush woodlands that embank the sand gold.
In the boundlessly stretching flow. Pearls and treasures the market displays
Profligacy and prodigality Rivals the noble in silk and satin plays.

Lake far, lake near, the high hills run tier upon tier.
The lotus flowers are fragrant and bright.
The scent of sweet osmanthus flowers fills the September air clear.
Pipe melodies are played everywhere on the days full of sunlight.
The water-nut plucking boats sing all the way home in afterglow at twilight.
The lake-touring mandarin many a retainers follows and obeys.
The fishermen and the lotus plucking girls work with delight.
while appreciating this wonderful and worthy landscape, I compose lyrics and lays.
So that, later at court, I could draw these down and show them off as displays.
