Blinking Lights Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Blinking Lights

For you and I,
see eye to eye,
as if nothing else would change.
But to a face,
with tears in place,
a smile rearranged.
I hold my liquor,
as I pick her,
to hold on to my heart.
I could stop drinking,
look without blinking,
this would be a start.
A dance without grace,
a walk with no pace,
as I stumble in the dark.
Wake up cold,
soul signed 'sold',
on a bench in central park.
Each morning that I wake,
the love for granted that I take,
slowly bleeds at the seem.
I've given my body,
to things that will haunt me,
Oh, what a painful dream.
