Blues Poem by Smoky Hoss

Blues

There's an old, old story
still making the rounds,
it's got a lot of color
going down town-
About a heart been broken,
ain't nothing new,
cloudy days come in grays
turning everything blue-
So, I sat and wrote God
a sweet little letter,
stated my case simple and straight,
asking to make things a little bit better-
But, just like the cold snow
at every winter's return,
those ol' blues keep on pouring down
hard lessons, we may never learn-
I shut the door
and lock the bolt too,
but somehow into my heart
those mean ol' blues still get through-
Then, I got me an idea,
got a plan,
go to the mountain top
and see the man-
So I went to that mountain
through one helluva storm,
and there the man said to me,
it ain't gonna be easy boy, sure as your born...
but, whatever you do son
don't give in,
with time and faith...
you surely will win-

Well, here's another day...and
those damn blues are once more coming my way.
I reckon, just like everyone else,
I'll have to learn to live with them
over and over, again and again...

Smoky, this brings to mind a song by Taj Mahal who sings something like, I got the blues so bad one night, it left my face in a permanent frown. Hoping there's a break for the sky blues and sunshine for you, Glen
