lungs functioning in place
of gills for the first time,
a unique step in a sequence
belonging with the breast stroke.

walking on the bottom
of the earth
beneath
so much pressure
the blood boils
warming to hot
starred-hot
into a
torrid
bubbling
in arteries
pulverizing the white cells
into believing
all is right with the body;
full force applied-
colliding with a wall of water
the shore is viewable
within crawling distance to the
forbidden area
within the continuous orbiting
expanse of gray murkiness
un-til
a
unified
separation
of species
according
to
size has been achieved.

the
reborn
star
an
unimagive
compass
without
a direction to choose
