Borrowed Time Poem by Gary Hembree

Borrowed Time

I cant love you forever, because one day we'll die.
I cant make a promise to you, because we dont know what tomorrow holds.
We all say things like forever.
And promise you.
But all those words are just an idea.
In which we hope to make happen.
In this ideal world we live in.
Nothing is set in stone.
So I can tell you that I'll love you until we are dust.
I can tell you I'll do what I can for you.
These words are more solid then forever.
More solid then I promise.
Because in this world.
We only have borrowed time.
