Both Our Eyes Poem by Timmy Tubbs

Both Our Eyes

Can I take my time this time?
Make it all worth while
I know I am keeping you at bay tonight
And honestly
It makes me smile

I purposly hang up early and explain my life with joy
Just so you grow old
Just so you get sick of that new toy
The real ones always seep back through
Our memories, I remember them too

I make it seem so easy
And I know it hurts
But not like me darling
Not like me

All my butterflies have started to fly more
Their wings turned to razor blades
And they cut my gut as every night fades
As I keep my pain behind cold shades

And dreams take my pride
I build all I can throughout everday
All I can is not enough
All I can. I am not as tough.

So thank you and this is me
I purposly try to get you near
Erasing your fear
And that tear
Fell from both our eyes darling
From both our eyes
