Brand New Eyes Poem by Your sword vs my pen

Brand New Eyes

She rubs her eyes-
The blurry skies
Fade out to black
As hope finally dies.

Standing in the shower,
Trapped,
Alone for hours;
The falling water, like
Icy winter rain-
A barrage of pain against her skin,
Holding the tears within
She cannot cry.

She looks at the world daily
Through brand new eyes,
She closes her ears
To yet more lies.
What happened to truth?
Each time she wakes
The world is a brand new hue,
Every colour she sees
Is a brand new shade of you.

The mist upon the screen
Shuts her off inside herself;
Locked in,
Lost in a cubicle of grey,
Hands searching vainly for a way
To see out clearly and escape.

But when bitter salty tears finally fall-
Tumble to fill the glass, she calls;
Takes another mouthful
And sits back to relax.
Her throat burns,
Her lungs burn,
Drowning in the desperate turns
Of a lonely spinning body.

Her eyes cross-
Breathing stops,
Nausea hits again in waves.
She knows her saviour is out today,
And she must face the world
In her own inverted way.

Reach for the glass
Of burning tears,
Drown the fears
Of all those hated, hateful years.
