Bravo Fr. Henri Poem by MICHAEL MBUWIR

Bravo Fr. Henri

BRAVO FR HENRI
When a father is talked about,
He’s sure perceived without a doubt;
In a priest who among us stays,
And’s seen and numbered many days.

When a teacher is mentioned,
Whoever cares e’en to question;
For we know one great professor,
‘Hollando’ the great instructor.

Whene’er to dogma one alludes,
Stout eyes feast on Father Peeters;
For he’s sure, a mobile storehouse,
Knowledge and wisdom’s grand warehouse.

When of a gentleman one thinks,
A newmanian icon methink,
dwells here, Joyful, graceful’nd gleeful,
A living norm for the youthful.

When a devout man is supposed,
All faint thoughts are superimposed;
By Service in fidelity,
To Christ for years numb’ring fifty.

Even humour when in dire need,
To break the chord and the ice heat;
It’s Peeters’ with great wittiness,
Laconic yet with fittingness.

Kudos father, bravo father,
Ride on, roll on dearest father;
You remain for us a beacon,
Truly and indeed an icon.

For an icon, Fr. HENRI PEETERS, MHM, on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of his priestly ordination, May 16,2014.
