Brief Petulant Minimalism Or Fleeting Querulous Anomalism Poem by Pleasant Dabbs

Brief Petulant Minimalism Or Fleeting Querulous Anomalism

The air is clear OR
The troposphere appears to be unimpeded
It all depends in our knowledge of the English language
Our access to a thesaurus,
The speed and accuracy of our desktop or laptop…
Or cellphone with internet access
Are we poets?
Or are we trying to impress our readers
With our academic knowledge
Or our adeptness in word placement
Do we want our readers to understand our writings/our poems or
Do we want to impress them with our knowledge
Of a language foreign to them (Scholastic English):
What will give us a higher rating, how will I win this contest?
I prefer to sound a little dumber and have people understand
Than to exalt myself to a sovereign or monarch of the language
There are too many politicians who criticize and ‘know' how to solve the problems
And too few who commiserate with the people
And look at life through their eyes and work with them to solve problems
Let us stop being politicians with understanding
And be citizens with a passion to spread a good word
And communicate with a generation so desperately in need
Of inspiration, of motivation, of eyes open to life's problems
And how to solve them with the help of their co-dwellers
Let's make a difference and not cause a conflict
