Broken Poem by Jni Willingham

Broken

Boy, you said you never meant to break me, or leave me in the dark.
You said you'd always love me, so why did our love fall apart?
You didn't want to see me cry
You never wanted to say goodbye.
You told me all of these things and
I made the mistake of believing you
I gave you my heart, but then you turned it cold.
I tried to love you with the little bit I had left,
But I guess that just wasn't enough for you.
I've been broken before so I know what it feels like to be let down.
I've learned from past mistakes not to trust anyone but myself.
But I somehow let you in, and now you're under my skin.
You've left me broken in the dark All alone
I don't know why you're acting this way
I wish all of my memories with you could just fade away.
I act like I'm over you, but I promise I'm not
I've lost all that's important to me, and I wish it would come back
But that's not going to happen
Because you're long gone
So I'll just lay here motionless,
Lay here broken.
