broken hearted

heartbreak is a dark time
and can turn the brightest of people
bitter and self-absorbed

no one cares for the heart anymore
and true love is an alien
among those who think they've seen it

a heart is such a fragile thing
kept together by God knows what
and if it fails
it leaves nothing but hollow shells
