Broken Hearts Poem by Marcus Mosiah Garvey

Broken Hearts

Broken hearts are flung to Hell's outpost,
Death and desolation tease the land;
This is due to Fascists' wildest boast
That has plagued mankind on every hand.
Down with Mussolini's creed of greed;
Down with all his forms of Roman pride;
Up with love and charity, in deed,
And with all that's true and should abide.
War is threatened everywhere we turn;
People's hearts are sad in mad despair,
Millions work on steel with hands that burn
All to cause the deadly things we fear.
Kill and kill, and still go killing more,
Is the order of the Fascist crew;
Kill them all on every foreign shore,
Kill them now, and not a paltry few.
Now we have the crew of men of might,
Blessed by Church and Holy (?) Roman state;
All they want are men to always fight,
just to make their class forever great.
Stop the crew that seeks to wreck all life;
Stop the mad dogs at their Roman Game;
They who love the blood of human strife
Must be stopped in God Almighty's name.
