Lilac Wine

Broken now

Broken now
The vase that held the roses
That fell when you left
That shattered into a million smithereens
Broken now
The heart that held your love
That hurt when you lied
That betrayed my feelings
That left me
Broken now
The star that lit the heavens
That glowed when you said you loved me
That fell dark when you cast the shadow of doubt
That threw me into darkness when you walked out
That left me blind when you closed the door
That left me
Broken now
The tear that fell for love and joy
That left me breathless
That drowned in pain
That left me lifeless
That sank my love when you said goodbye
That left me

Touching, magnificent....there are not many of us that can not relate to what happened in here Lilac....If he had broken the waterford, he would not be leaving with his legs though....Sometimes, it's a shattered picture held most dear...doesn't matter what, a piece of us dies at that moment, sometimes time and time again.
This is beyond good! ! ~~~~~~~~~~marci.xo (Report) Reply

Oh yes... I had one of those.... the broken vase and all it signified. Of course, it was chipped away at a lot first. But you know what? It was only cheap tack anyway, and the new flowers that the new vase holds are blooming marvellous! (Sorry couldn't resist) . Right on, and write on, sweetheart. t x (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
