Broken Wing - Poem by Peter Rhodes

You once touched the stars
Little broken wing:
You flew so high
The World was yours.

You shared dreams
Little broken wing
Of a life together
In the sun.

You passed Seas and Oceans
Little broken wing
Seeing distance as nothing
Souls always together

And then the storm came:
Little broken wing
You hurt so much
Would not cry.

And now you look up
Little broken wing
And see the sky you once ruled
So blue
Is black
And far away.
