Buddha Poem by sharon catley

Buddha

I promised I would buy her something so
We went to Chinatown
In search of a perfect large, blue and white vase.

There were hundreds of Buddhas in the store
Round bellied and smiling..
And as she perused the china
I walked from one little statue to the next
Each time rubbing the belly and making my wish..
Please make him love me.. please, please make him love me..

Hundreds of bellies..
Hundreds of wishes..
But they were not enough..

Please Buddha.. Make him love me..
