Buddha, The Great And His Sermons (Vi)

Buddha, The Great and His Sermons (VI)

Sujata perceived a holy man of respectful figure
Golden looking, handsome was under meditation
Sitting serenely under the tree closing his eyes
She bowed him and offered her milk rice donation

Ascetic Goutama was fasting for several days
Being determined to reach the ultimate goal
So after a bit hesitation he accepted the food
And achieved new strength in heart and soul

Sujata thanked and wished him to be successful
Praying to the wish-fulfilling-tree as she became
And departed happily not knowing the very man
Was Siddharth Goutama, future ‘Buddha' by name

After eating the milk-rice, he gained new energy
Went to the Niranjara River with the golden pot
Threw it away in the river water and murmured
If I be successful, let it go upstream otherwise not

And he saw in pleasure the bowl went upstream
Instead of going downward along with the stream
He took bath in the river and sat for the meditation
Concentrating with more energy to fulfill his dream

On that very day, i.e. December 8, when Siddhartha
Got enlightenment, a state of inner peace and wisdom
The spiritual echelon, Nirvana above the recycling of birth
Siddhartha Goutama became ‘Buddha' an Enlightened one
