Burnin Bridges

Time I burned some bridges
Time I burned them good
Time I burned some bridges
So things are understood

I keep comin back to you
But you’re no good for me
I got nothin more to give
Oh darlin don’t you see

It’s gonna hurt us both I know
But there’s nothin we can do
Cept make a nice clean break of it
Fraid I’m over you

Told you from the start
How it is for me
All or nothin’s how I live
You jus don’t wanna see

Gimme back my things now
And I’ll give you back yours
Then we can both breathe again
Open windows open doors

Sorry if I hurt you
If I caused you pain
Offered you my soul once
Jus can’t do that again

Hope one day you’ll understand
We’ve done each other wrong
I can’t be your friend and wait
Till your next one comes along

We had some real good times
We also had some bad
You’ll be happy soon enough
You won’t stay too sad

You’ll bounce back in no time
That’s the way you are
I’m the one who loves too much
So I will keep the scar

poet Henry David Thoreau

Whate'er we leave to God, God does,
And blesses us;
The work we choose should be our own,
God leaves alone.
