But God Can Hate Too Poem by Michael P. Johnson

But God Can Hate Too

We hear so much that God is love
Most think it’s for the best
But some in death, when high above
They’ll find they have no rest

God’s love is true! There is no doubt
In Christ, it’s hard to hide
But what most fail to talk about
Is what He can’t; abide

Who live to sin will surely die
They’ll find themselves in hell!
Though Jesus’ love is not a lie
The Lord can hate as well

Like cows well fed, both sleek and fat
Some sit with nought to do
Once saved, they think that that is that
God’s love will see them through

Some hear the call, yet fail to come
They’ve nought but self; in mind
Though God is love, He isn’t dumb
And neither is He blind

Within the world God’s children die
Outside of Jesus’ hand
Without the “word” they wonder why?
And fail to understand

There’s more to God than meets the eye
His word is so profound
He says there’s more for you and I
That just to sit around

Now take good heed what Jesus said
Learn now! The Lord to fear
Don’t wait around until you’re dead
But serve Him right down here.
