‘Buterfly, these words
From my brush are not flowers
Only their shadows’ (Soseki)
butterfly heart I think you are
born to spread a butterfly kiss
brush stroked in heaven resting benign
to thrill beside your Creator’s bliss
butterfly wing I think you are
more tender than any of the hues
poured down the rainbows into my soul
into all the colours of my blues
butterfly deep do lift me up
and let me hear your voice
this is why we both were born
to fly and sing and to rejoice
