Kookaburras came like Carmelites
Arriving reverently in twos;
Landing quietly without a coo
On the paperbark tea trees
By the pond.
The silence snaps suddenly
At the Kookaburra's laugh.
A ballet corps of blue water lilies
Ready to dance.
I like it! Close encounter of the natural kind- and not a word too many in it!
i had never heard the kookaburras laughter or its cry but one day to australia i will fly, before it's time for me to die. (i had to search the dictionary to make sure of what it was) this poem carried me so that i could see and understand it. well written a ten
