Bye … Bye-Bye Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bye … Bye-Bye

I saw you bundled up
You passed by
I was there by the wall
(Spying…on the bush…sparrows)
Too busy fighting cold and wind
You passed by
Ignored me
Had no time but to rush
Sparrows were like ball
(Snow balls that kid makes,
Puffy round, very loose,)
They know well to fight cold
And I watched and I watched
They were cute, it was fun
Once sun shined they flapped
They sang… jumped.

I too did flap my wings
“I am out, I am out, ” I shouted
Hell with their politics,
Let its shame remain theirs,
I’ve had it good or bad.
I damn me for those days.

I’d rather be the bush
I love to be that bird
Hungry and thirsty in the cold
But to be out of shame
Far away from the politics

I want to put aside
Even eyes
Even ears
Even tongue
Goddamn them.
My cure seems close
I can see the steps
Bye friends, hi grave …
