Cairns Poem by Maple Trail

Cairns

He did not graduate with an MFA
or have an award for his lapel
No screen in hand
so they did not see him
No avatar, so they
could not recognize him
Finally, no Face Book had he
so was pummeled and cast
from the halls of civilization

But he took words he found nearby
and pounded them, beat them,
conjured & twisted, piled them
into cairns that stood long enough
to be tweaked and aligned
(a touch of adhesive here, and here,
no one would notice)
and left them in the rain
to survive or not beside the path

And it was good
Amen
