Castlemaine Poem by Rory Hudson

Castlemaine

Rating: 5.0

Come with me to Castlemaine
when summer’s in the air
and laughing girls dance through the parks
loosening their hair.

In Castlemaine in summertime
the sky is azure blue,
but leafy trees cast forth their shade
to shelter me and you.

And children ride their bicycles
on paths that have no end
to vistas shining in the sun
where all their joys shall blend.

And creeks run gurgling happily,
their water fresh and cool,
to distant open arms of seas
where love shall always rule.

A place there is in Castlemaine
where you and I can see
the sunshine gladdening our souls
with dreams that still can be.

Come, tell me that you will be mine,
in Castlemaine, in summertime.

Andrew Barton 'Banjo' Paterson is one of my favorite poets, you Aussies have a number of good poets and here I thought you mugs only knew how to drink beer. Your work is good and I like it. Down one for me. Jimmer
