Chains Stilll Not Broken Poem by Larry Perry Sr

Chains Stilll Not Broken

Breaking from the chains of the man is hard than we think

Should we be free from the man's chains what will will it take

How will we ever escape out of the close gate if we can't never break loose from the man's chains

Is like slavery all over again it's like slavery all over again when will it ever end

When I thought long ago it had ended but it goes on like a replay of yesterday

What will it take to really be free and walk down the street free as a bird without a care in the world

Not having to worry about being shot by cops just for walking the block and being black

Walking while being black isn't a crime how can I relax when cops have a complex for the color of my skin is it because I'm black

How can I relax knowing that it could be me next to get shot

February Black History Month memories of the past we reunite the Flames because some things are still the same and never will change for the man

Hate from the man who continues to keep us in Chains like if they are God

When all alone they are Satan with a gun you dare not to run or you will be shot in the back by the cop

Who still wants you in Chains so when with the chains be broken for black men can be free to walk the street being black without a care in the world which is not a crime thatwill be the day the Chains will be broken
