Change. Poem by Mike Berriman

Change.

Change is inevitable
Like the movement of tides
Assaulting our senses
Akin to the movement of sand
Incrementally a beach is made
Change is thrust upon us
We can resist, for now
Later we will accept
A momentous change
Is the use of the word
Defining that, if we wish to resist
Change seeps into our world
Moving, altering, morphing
Not all change is forward
This explains
Nuclear bombs
Enormous standing armies
Millions of refugees
Change is a challenge
How to accept and grow
A beach sandcastle
At the mercy of water
Small waves start
Mighty waves destroy
We are born to grow
This growth defines us
From animals and lesser beings
There are gaps in this logic
But..
Change is inevitable.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Change affects us all. We can refuse change like we can deny the tide.
