Chasms Of Mourning Poem by Lopamudra Mishra

Chasms Of Mourning

I stood still dumb, watching her..pouring out
the chasm of tears emphatically.
Her long years of commitment is now washing away,
with every droplets, oozing out from her heart.
She lost dear one!
In mourning she asks.. why the almighty has chosen
to bear the chasms of loneliness alone?
Is this her reward? _ against the unconditional love and sacrifice
for years..
Silently she followed the rituals!
All of a sudden bursts out...against the unruly traditions of
WIDOWHOOD!
Her lovely image in front of the mirror
is shattered..
They have taken her tingling bangles and wiped her forehead..!
Embedding a heavy heart inside me..crying in revolt to such cruelties..
Is it correct to snatch a person's lovely image
when she is in mourning?
Unable to revolt, I stood there beside her,
watching everything speechlessly!

So touching- widows have the right to live as usual - some give up others raise up as a phoenix from ashes to normal life
