Chieftain’s Song Poem by Eliza Acton

Chieftain’s Song

On to the field my banners bear,
I shall not long delay!
One last kiss from my lady fair,-
One bright curl of her silken hair,-
And then, away !-away !

On to the field !-and where my plume
Gleams high amid the fray,
There gallant spirits! seek your doom-
A warrior's wreath, or warrior's tomb:-
And now-away !-away! -
