Chinelo I Poem by Chukwuemeka Ezeamalu

Chinelo I

I was told when and how to find her
The rivers to cross and hills to scale
The bends and steeps through a distance far
But, desirous mind thinks all but to fail

The only map is written on skies
Curved and straight lines coded among stars
'Tis a trek to start when a day flies
I expect there'll be unannounced clouds

A dream chased after leads to real life
As absence of light, kills all shadows
But in memories' wall hangs always light
That paints her beauty as never-world

To behold and love her a goddess
A monster beauty that kills all pains
But I—ain't just come to see a princess
But have her lips paint mine; be-it in rains!
