Choices Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Choices

Ah!
The many ways
and times,
we can pick and choose,
No new news.
Started when you were a kid,
did what you wanted to,
most times,
depending on your generation.
Ate what you wanted,
Chose when,
Chose which parent you loved best,
Put them to the test!
Yes!
Of course we are often influenced
by those who think they know what
we need, and want, from day to day!
Hey!
Don't take it if you don't like it...
from them or any one!
Be your best self, at all times,
following your own path in search of
truth...
the light will keep you empowered as long
as you don't block the way of another's truth,
with always the same thought back to you.
Choices!
Make them wisely and if they don't turn out
the way you hoped they would, don't blame it
on your mother
or
father!
You have the power!
