Choices Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Choices

It doesn't matter how busy you are
Or how busy I am.
Regardless of what devil appears in the detail
We'll figure it out together.
Some days will be easier than most
But we'll have each other
For those moments to lean upon,
When it gets hard to breathe.
When chests feel like their beginning to cave.
When every answer feels wrong
And we have nothing to exchange but silence.
Even then, there isn't a reason good enough
To justify why my fingers
Shouldn't interlock with yours.
Regardless of what devil appears,
Unless that devil appears in the form
Of your heart turning away from mine,
Followed by your feet.
Followed by the rest of you.
Followed by the choice I've made.
Followed by me
