Climbing (Out) Poem by Bill Galvin

Climbing (Out)

Attracted am I by the activity of the stream
To heat some lunch trailside,
As the sun burns thru the cover
And the mountains appear with blue.
Up stream and down
The morning rain evaporates from the leaves;
An occasional drop drips on my back.
Stooped over my fire, I entreat a departure;
I came to be absorbed by wilderness;
Air more clean to breathe
And sky more blue to see.
Roll and fall of water over and around boulders,
Is a drone to mesmerize me;
To demand I bring ear closer still
To hear the melody of a separation commencing.
