Cold Heart Poem by Brianna Wilshusen

Cold Heart

Why is my heart so cold,
I will tell you here now.

My heart is cold as icy fire,
My dreams have sailed far from me.
How dare you to ask me,
I shall tell you my tale:

I had this love, oh yes, I did,
It burned like a wildfire inside.
You cannot dream of our passion we held,
The love we shared like a summer blazing.

He was everything I wanted,
He was part of my own dark soul.
The one thing that kept me living,
The one thing that couldn't be lost.

But one day, lost it became.

A very bad mistake,
On my part it was.
A hurt I could not bare,
So I left him, you see?

To my own heart's dispare,
I could not bare the loss.

And now, today,
We flirt and stare.
But because of the wrong,
He will not have me back.

Our love is not lost,
It hides in our souls.
No one can see this,
But we both do know.

We hug and we flirt,
For now that is all.
One day it might be a little more,
But for now, we can't really tell.
