Coldness Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Coldness

Rating: 5.0

The tendency
Of society
Turning
Insensitive
Towards
The world
Outside
Its realm
Towards
The plight
And misery
Of those
Laying naked
Hungry
Dehydrated
And unsafe
On the roads
Streets
And foot-paths
Struggling
Against in vain
For survival
While others
Shirking
Obligations.

Nothing is
As soft
And weak
As poverty
All together
Nothing is
As effective
And powerful
As the poverty
As poor class
Wears away
Powerful authority
Over coming
Richness
And strength
In democracy.

Swiftly
Increasing
The gap
Between
The haves
And have-nots
A warning bell
Danger ahead.

Behold!
Beggars both
One helpless
Outside
The temple
And the other
In side of it
Dead soul.
