Combat Equipped Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Combat Equipped

As soldiers in the war of wars
In God’s almighty throng
Some would battle behind closed doors
Believing nothing’s wrong

In combat suit of jungle green
In mask and shady veil
We walk in shadows live unseen
And wonder why we fail

With wicked minds and hearts full bile
Rivals would sneak within
They’d infiltrate both rank and file
Of those who’d combat sin

But holding strong and standing true
Though stormy winds may blow
We’ll seek each day God’s strength anew
And beat the common foe

But who defeats the foe within
When souls are all but well
When secretly we live in sin
Adoring fruits of hell

True clout comes not from idle chat
But love and righteous deed
With sword and shield in true combat
Against demonic weed

As Father, Son and Ghost are One!
As darkness hates The Light
Each soldier rooted in God’s Son
Will grow and win the fight

We’ll stand to Satan’s sheer disgust
Wielding our righteous sword
We’ll see the enemy turn to dust
Says Christ The Living Lord
