Come Back Poem by Tiya Sen

Come Back

Days of warmth didn't last that long
left me mulling again what i did wrong
Rotten ruins are all that's left of everything that gleamed
Painful aches erodes all that our reality once seemed
With every breath that I let go
'come back' is the only deafening echo
don't make me trade my dreams with emptiness
don't make my gaze shift from the open door to darkness
if you can't hear my heart call then read it in my empty hands
that rise only to urge you to come back but fall fearing you are on greener lands
my tears never showed so they wouldn't be the reason you stayed
but as silence my witness for you to turn around was all i prayed
you stepping back didn't feel right this time around
but your words had the power to keep my feet bound
