Confession Poem by Gautam Sen

Confession

Facts when stated with things that don’t comply
With the truth, what we state is blatant lie.
When we do things not ethically strong
Often we say- “in it I find nothing wrong.”
To cover up some misdeeds, lies do surge –
Misdeeds block our conscience and moral urge.

Like this all real truths are wrapped up with lies,
Questions are met with concocted replies.
Slowly we get used to hiding the fact
By our cooked up stories without impact.
So things are when managed for the time being,
A fake satisfaction crops up within.

Let’s pay a heed to what truth has to say –
“You can fool many with whom you can play,
But with your own soul how can you gainsay?
You ought to admit and repent one day!
Confess your lies to someone who loves you –
God, the Almighty. Be clear in His view.”
