Confrontation Poem by Elizabeth Castleberry

Confrontation

Crystal eyes
Give up surprise
Sapphire meets ice
For a high price
The beat slows then quickens,
And the hesitance lends
To the betrayal of his secret.
His brow is wet
And his gaze keeps shifting.
The sensation of falling,
His stomach feels queasy.
But he can't give up that easy.
The room seems to spin
Round and round again.
Reality comes and goes
As the carousel slows.
Resistance stops too
And the world becomes a different hue.
All he can do is brace
And look into her curious face
