Conundrum Of Time Poem by Lee McGregor

Conundrum Of Time

Decaying time
Tumbling crumbling
Breaking away
From the residue of today,
The fragmented left-overs
Of a time frame
In its death throes,
No cause for alarm
No need for dismay,
What is lost
Is somehow regained,
An inexhaustible supply
Of intangible nothingness
Yet profoundly ubiquitous,
Permeating all
Infecting everything,
The incurable disease
Of impermanence,
Heroic endurance
The response
In this living thing
I find myself in....

Being cheated now
Time speeding up
Somehow,
Years decades disappearing
In the blink
Of an eye,
Yet so strange to find
A stillness a sameness
In this moment
I've pulled to a halt,
Or at least
Focussed on so intensely
As to move through
In slow motion.
A futile response
Alas all will be lost
An incalculable cost,
As all that was
Will ever be
Dissolves effortlessly,
Into completely
The infinite ocean
The consuming conundrum
Of time....
