Convicted In The Holy Spirit (I) Poem by James Mullaney

Convicted In The Holy Spirit (I)

In silent, vast, vistaless, tumid space,
past dark matter cosmical elements,
atomic dust - hot, weightless, and immense -
like ragweed pollen, seeds its half-life trace;
pollution no caretaker can efface.
Just so is the notorious offense
I gave to heaven, and must recompense -
a neutron star of sin and high disgrace.
The atom's nucleus is cleaved in two -
a cataclysmic fission in the soul,
a biospheric meltdown of the mind.
By sunrise I've unhinged my point of view.
Is there no love in the sky to console
a soul sick renegade dust devil blind?
