Cora Poem by Rickardo BecklesBurrowes

Cora

Another matriarch down, world shifting suddenly
Her strength of character: steel, hair flaming bright
the length of evergreens, wild desire untamed.
She, the last of her kind departed.
It took everything to break her,
though she had everything life presents -
boundless, head high.
Her legacy a lesson to live your own rules
build your own endings, beginnings, middles.
Without fear or pained measure
ready for the fall, blessed for the rise again.
