she sits at the edge,
calm and composed on the outside
but shes in a whirlwind of emotions.
stomach in iron knots,
a million butterflies
making their way into her chest.
heart pounding,
hands trembling,
palms sweating,
heady confusion fills her,
making her dizzy.
her eyes scan the sea of faces
they settle on the most important two.
there they sit,
side by side,
proud parents once more.
choking back the tears,
she slowly stands and
crosses that line,
into the spot light.
she takes a deep breath and begins,
because this is what she was born to do.
