Covenant (A Sonnet) Poem by Barry Blander

Covenant (A Sonnet)

Heaven sinned against, mans' soul with dark stain
Now cursed for eating the fruit forbidden
An outcast for Adam, God would ordain
With crushing burden his spirit ridden;
His son Abel by brother Cain was slain,
His blood in the ground would not be hidden.
Man, sundered from God, would cry out in pain.
Yet, new song in God's Love would be written
And upon man's parched life sent divine rain
In advent of Jesus Christ's salvation;
Miracles all Earth's books could not contain
Of all men would HE bless from one Nation
Death, now conquered by the Lord's cornerstone
For all mankind His Blood would now atone.
