Creeps! Poem by Claire Hastie

Creeps!

They crawl from every corner
They hide behind the door
Waiting, watching for the small child to wander
Evil lurks from beneath the floor
Misty vapours spreads in the dark
Somewhere, a lonesome dog will bark.

Little child cuddles close to her bunny
Noises creak above her head
She cries out for her mummy
But she's tucked up in bed.

Daddy won't be home, for he's working late again
The noises are getting nearer
As she hears a heavy breather
And begins to count to ten.

Ice cold shivers down her spine
Misty vapours from her tiny breath
A frozen hand grips from behind
'Sweetheart, you'll catch the cold of death! '
