We look at men and look at sports,
we see too many in the courts.
We hear the ego-twisted call
of governments before they fall.

See the stories on TV news,
scandals - rape - and grim abuse,
leaders - statesmen - churchly powers,
just using us - the fault is ours.

We followed them - we raised them up,
and now we sip a bitter cup,
we only got what we deserved,
and now we cringe with evil served.

Giving faith and blind belief
to those who give us only grief,
and Spider Man is great on screen,
one more manly mythos seen.

Seeking quality in life,
our faith is shattered by this strife,
but we might try and rearrange
those bad ideals and make a change.

And there is one - like no other,
my superhero is my mother,
she doesn't have those arms of steel
but we never missed a meal.

Maybe we weren't rich with money,
she cared for us - kept us sunny,
she spent her strength when times were tough,
til we were safe - and that's enough.

It's she deserves our loyalty,
instead of kings - male royalty,
it's time we cast abusers down
and gift a woman with the crown.

Author's Notes: Maybe it's another 'grass is always greener' opinion, but I am gravely disappointed in the historical record of male dominance. Looking at our track record, I think we have done a lousy job of running things, especially in our zeal at spreading 'the good news of love' at the point of a sword. Not good. Not wise, and ultimately self-destructive. Somehow, I think women would have made a better job of it. Just one guy's opinion.
