She says I fall in love easily
That worse still I lack taste
That with unfounded feelings I hasten dizzily
And lust is all there is to my haste
But is it my fault
That love is elusive
That I keep her in my heart's vault
But to her I ain't exclusive?
Or is it a crime
That to her I'm worth less than a dime
That her I admire
Only for her to quench my fire?
Yet all I wanted was a friend
And she turned out to be better than one:
To my need to be loved she tended
And my heart she won
For attention breeds affection
And I am only human
Still she asserts it is affectation
Forgetting that 'a poet is a man'
I hoped there was of love an iota
Were love a sentence, a dot
Alas there was no such quota
For Crown of Honour lover me not!
