Cry Wolf Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Cry Wolf

Rating: 5.0

Don't give me your heart,
For I am a wolf in sheep's clothing.
I don't know the meaning of togetherness.
Seeing the harsh reality of
The many nights spent in hunger having to fend for myself.
For all I know is a bleak understatement of warmth.
To Cozy in the high grass on the open plain.
Hoping I don't freeze to deaf by the chill of thoughts that
echo through the night.
afflicted with self hate as my hunger consumes all around.
I've never known the blight of a colorful spectrum seen through the eyes of another
for I was born color blind.
Forced to run away soon as my eyes connected with another.
For Fear of not understanding
A lack of a caring home. Don't give me your heart
For I will surely abuse it.
Give me a sense of belief as I never knew the meaning of religion.
To be baptized in the arms of another that truly cares.
A dream that there is something better.
Show my eyes that there is something more than just black and white.
Instead,
Teach me how to dream
