Dad Poem by Mick Law

Dad

I felt you today;
When sadness came
And I didn't notice tears
Until you wiped them away
With a shake and a swipe
Of an invisible hand.

I heard you today;
Watching nostalgic recollections
Of the three day week
And double-figure inflation.
Your outraged voice,
‘Sheeeeeez, bloody hell,
Just pay up and be happy'

I saw you today;
But I didn't.
I wanted to but I didn't.
